I've got this CD I pick-up for free, I boot the laptop which doesn't even have a working system installed. I start Barry Kauler pupdial, which creates the wvdial.conf file for me. Wvdial and picocom seem to work fine. I can connect, disconnect, reconnect, access the web, no problem. Now I reboot the laptop and choose to create a slacko_save file which as far as I know should only contain the new wvdial.conf file. Once rebooted wvdial complains that the modem is busy, picocom hangs up with the following message: port is : /dev/modem flowcontrol : none baudrate is : 9600 parity is : none databits are : 8 escape is : C-a noinit is : no noreset is : no send_cmd is : ascii_xfr -s -v -110 receive_cmd is : rz -vv Terminal ready _ The cursor is flashing and the program is not accepting any command, i.e. I type AT and nothing happens, I get no response. I've also tried sending a string of +++ to no effect. Control a followed by control x will terminate picocom. > If it's the old slacko_save file, try rebooting using the new one that you > just saved when the modem was working.
