Additionally,

The slamr driver + slmodemd is in principle cable of handing up to 4
modem streams simulataneously
and there would be respective /dev/slamr0, /dev/slamr1 /dev/slamr2 /dev/slamr3
However most "consumer" modem hardware only comes equiped with ONE
modem output line,
per my description below.
