Dogo,

For your 0x10573055 Motorola softmodem chip, all you have done is appropriate.
But there have been other reports of poor/intermittent results with this chip.

Sadly there is a pre-compiled component that is now years old, that
cannot be updated.
Distribution rights were sold by Smartlink to Conexant, and there is
no hope of getting support from Conexant for old Smartlink hardware.

You might try using +MS=34 in
 Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +MS=34
If this should help, try for higher compression with +MS=90

Also decreasing the MTU in  /etc/ppp/options might bring some benefit

Also try using the most recent ungrab-winmodem from
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/
