Hi,
the generic packages are always working in the same way, the
installation instructions are available at:
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/install.php
For Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04, it's even more simple, since the gcc and
linux-headers packages are already installed in a stock installation.
Consequently, a generic DEB package installation of one of our drivers
will be as easy as a pre-compiled package with that setup, the only
difference is that the installation of the package will be longer since
the driver will be compiled.

From http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php
download hsfmodem-7.80.02.06full_k2.6.32_22_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip
Under Linux unpack with:
$ unzip hsfmodem*.zip
Then install with:
$ sudo dpkg -i hsfmodem*.deb
Subsequently, the modem should be found with
$ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
Edit in your personal information with:
$ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf
and try dialing out with:
$ sudo wvdial.
See DOCs/Testing.txt for details.
Get the generic source package and build it against your kernel. The
package referenced above does not exist and will not likely in the
near future.
Jonathan,
It would be nice to have newer directions to use the generic packages
since Linuxant will no longer provide updated packages since there are
too many new kernel releases :(

Antonio
