Please check that your configuration file you copied to us is located
at /etc/wvdial.conf
if not copy it there with:
$ sudo cp wvdial.conf  /etc/wvdial.conf

During the test you reported, wvdial seems to be readinga file at
/etc/wvdial.conf
which hasn't been edited to remove the at least some of the symbols ; < >
Check with:
$ cat /etc/wvdial.conf
to display the file.
