Hello Jin and everyone else,
I have the Hiro 56K External modem and it is happy with Linux and Winders. It _is_ a pain to carry the external modem and its wall-wart power supply with my laptop. Many places I go have wireless high speed Internet and I use the RF card to communicate. But at home, where I have only dialup and the line limits the modem to 32K (long line), I plug into the Hiro.
Good Luck with your internal modem

Calling any and all Acer Aspire 3680 laptop (winmodem) owners who were able to get ubuntu "karmic" and dialup to work? Also, you were new to command-line computing and entering esoteric commands? Would love to hear back on how YOU were able to get your system configured. Just curious.
