FYI, This is no formal LINMODEMS support. Rather it is a loose
collection of List members with mode experience, specfically included
Jacques Goldberg, who is more knowledgeable than me in several areas.

Ignore my previous message to run this test you just reported.
This result displays the problem

slmodemd does not seem to be perceiving the "Carrier Check = no"
instruction written in wvdial.conf

Some work has to be done herein.
THere is nothing more you can do at the moment.
