Dolores Download from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/ the package SLMODEMD.gcc4.3.tar.gz having a compiled slmodemd. Unpack under Linux with: $ tar zxf SLMODEMD.gcc4.3.tar.gz and read instructions therein. Do $ lsmod | grep intel8x0m to check if the driver is loaded. If not do: $ sudo modprobe snd-intel8x0m Briefly,if there are no other problems, the modem is setup with command: slmodemd -c USA --alsa modem:1 reporting dynamic creation of ports: /dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N , with N some number Read DOCs/Smartlink.txt and Modem/DOCs/YourSystem.txt for follow through guidance. But there will likely be a problem in your case. So try and report back to the List, not me directly MarvS On Tue, Jan 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM, Dolores Portalatin <meskarune@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > This is my new modem data file: > -------------------------- System information ---------------------------- > CPU=i686, Linux Mint 6 Felicia Fluxbox CE > Linux version 2.6.27-7-generic (buildd@rothera) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu > 4.3.2-1ubuntu10) ) #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 > scanModem update of: > > > Presently install your Linux Distributions dkms package.
