David, The sl-modem-daemon package seems to be installed already, in support of Modem: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] AC'97 Modem Controller " > CLASS=0703 > PCIDEV=1039:7013 > SUBSYS=1558:2202 with the Smartlink SIL22 codec, it requires the modem driver snd-intel8x0m as contrasted to the reported: "Potentially useful modem drivers now loaded are: slamr" Read the ModemData.txt sections about the snd-trident driver, to better understand Try doing $ sudo /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon stop which should unload slamr, checking before and after with: $ lsmod | grep slamr In the last test, slamr should not be displayed. The "| grep slamr" part is a filter passing only lines in the lsmod output containing slamr The problem to be worked around is the snd-trident driver, what is not fully modem compatible. This may take a while to work through. Try unloading with: $ lsmod | grep snd-trident $ sudo modprobe -r snd-trident $ lsmod | grep snd-trident which should no longer display snd-trident If the driver unloading was successful, try loading the modem driver snd-intel8x0m $ lsmod | grep snd-intel8x0m $ sudo modprobe -r snd-intel8x0m $ lsmod | grep snd-intel8x0m to test if the snd-intel8x0m modem driver does load. If successful, try activating the modem with: $ sudo rm /dev/ttySL0 $ sudo slmodemd -c ITALY --alsa modem:1 which should recreat /dev/ttySL0 Then try detection with $ sudo wvdialconf At this point report back on results to the List, not directly to me as I'm not online much MarvS scanModem maintainer On Mon, Nov 16, 2009 at 6:30 AM, <davidealiperti@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > hi guys, > i've just installed xubuntu 9.04 on my old laptop and i have some problem > with my internal modem, running wvdial it says "no modem wa detected"! > could someone give me help ? here attached the modem_data.txt > Only plain text email is forwarded by the Discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx List > Server, > as HTML can contain viruses.
