Jonathan, Please check my guidance below concerning dkms. MarvS Steve, Linuxant is good about updating its packages, so likely there will be a 28_16 soon. But there is an alternative route. First install the dkms package supporting auto updates: $ sudo apt-get install dkms and the linux-headers for 28_16 and libc6-dev packages needed for compiling support $ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.28-16-generic Reboot into 2.6.28-16-generic and rerun the hsfmodem install. Drivers for the 2.6.28-16-generic kernel will be compiled and installed, also the dkms will be informed of the presence of the hsfmodem package. Thereafter, whenever you upgrade to a new kernel, the new hsfmodem drivers will also be compiled and installed, provided you have previously installed the linux-headers-MatchingNewKernel. Presently, it tells me to update to the 28_16 kernel ; it is currently running 28_11, which is what I installed directly from the 9.04 distribution media, two days ago. > > But, the linuxant.com site does not have a file named hsfmodem_7.80.02.05full_k2.6.28_16_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip ; > it only has the 28_15 and lower numbered versions. > > I can't find anything on the site that tells me whether it will ever have a 28_16; or if so, when. > > Please advise. > > Thank you, > Steve >
