Manish,

Put the following as a SINGLE LINE:
install agrserial /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install agrmodem ;
/sbin/modprobe --ignore-install agrserial && \
test -e /dev/ttySAGR || ln -s /dev/ttyAGS3 /dev/ttySAGR

somewhere in your /etc/modprobe.conf or /etc/modprobe.d/ files,
depending upon your System
Thereafter the drivers will be loaded and ports created in the future
by a simple:
# modprobe agrserial

which should be done this manually after a bootup

Beyond that, I can't assist with the sound problems of your particular kernels.
Please do report back on the kernels which the modem may be functional under.
