Dear Marvin,

This might be because I did that on my LAPTOP from my office where my
broadband connection with my UBUNTU works fine. I never thought abt
any modem in office (I just plug in the LAN datacable & i get
connected)

Problem is when i am at home i have only dialup access that i am not
able to configure.

So whatever you say to do, i do it in office ... then go home with my
LAPTOP to see whether it worked ... & give u the feedback next day
from office.

So in nutshell I have done following in my wvdial.conf -->

Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Baud = 460800
New PPPD = yes
Modem = /dev/ttySL0
ISDN = 0
; Phone = **********
Carrier Check = no
; Password = **********
; Username = *********

Note :- ***** represent the real data of my phone no. / pass /
username etc. AND i have removed <  > from each entry.

& in second tab now its showing -->

ankur@ankur:~$ sudo wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot get information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid phone number.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid login name.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid password.

Now is this thing will work when I am at home?

At home now i will do sudo wvdial & i want the net to get connected.

If not happens will tell you ... plz don't mind !!!

Regards,
Ankur Joshi
