Ryan, It is quite logical you weren't hearing any modem sound as usrsound was not running. To later disable the modem sound, edit this attached file and change 1 to 0 at the line "sound_enabled=1". Copy this 537_boot attached file to intel-536-537/ ! then $ cd intel-536-537/ $ sudo make uninstall $ sudo make install $ sudo /etc/init.d/537_boot status This ought to give an output such as: [philippe@victor intel-536-537]$ sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/537_boot status PID TTY TIME CMD 3271 pts/0 00:00:00 hamregistry PID TTY TIME CMD 3274 ? 00:00:00 usrsound
