Hi Antonio,

I have already d/l and installed the same kernel-devel rpm that you have noted
(but not the 'latest' edition -- btw, thanks for taking the trouble of
locating them).

It's worth another try to d/kl the latest devel rpm-- hopefully it will
include the ../build subdirectory!

I waded through Mandriva's notes on adding 3rd-party modules, and ran into
this:

"When compiling the kernel all output files will per default be stored
together with the kernel source code. Using the option "make O=output/dir
allows you to specify an alternate palce for teh output files
(including .config)
Example:
	kernel source code: /usr/src/linux-2.6.N
	build directory: /home/name/build/kernel "

That last line seems to be what I need -- perhaps the rpm that I installed did
not have 'make O=. . .' enabled?

This brings back old memories . . . when I tried to get HylaFax running under
Mandrake 8.0 -- bumped into a bunch of no-go's due to the way Mandrake set up
rpms (locating files in unorthodox locations).

Hopefully it will work.
Thanks - will report outcome!

Andre
