Hi,

please send to support@xxxxxxxxxxxx the output of 'dumpdiag'. Type the following in a root shell:

---
hsfconfig --dumpdiag
---

Just send us the generated file located in /tmp ('hsfdiag.txt').
It'll help us solve the problem.

Using "setserial" on the devices created by our modem drivers is not necessary since they are virtual serial port, not physical ones.

Hi,

Until recently, I didn't have much need of my internal modem on my laptop.
But now, it would be very useful for me to be able to send and receive faxs.
So I tried (on two laptop, in fact) to use the integrated modem under Linux.

On my profesional laptop (an IBM/Lenovo T43), I'm using Windows XP and
Mandriva Linux 2009.1 (or 2009 Spring).
The modem works well under Windows (not so surprising), and is well
discovered by Mandriva, who setup 'alone' the hsf drivers.
alas, even if I don't find any error messages, it is simply impossible to
'talk' to the /dev/ttySHSF0 device.

Trying with wvdialconf give me this result :
------------
# wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
Editing `/etc/wvdial.conf'.

Scanning your serial ports for a modem.

Modem Port Scan<*1>: Scanning ttySHSF0 first, /dev/modem is a link to it.
Modem Port Scan<*1>: SHSF0
ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- failed with 2400 baud, next try: 9600 baud
ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- failed with 9600 baud, next try: 115200 baud
ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- and failed too at 115200, giving up.
Modem Port Scan<*1>: S1 S2 S3 SHSF1 SHSF2 SHSF3 SHSF4
Modem Port Scan<*1>: SHSF5 SHSF6 SHSF7

Sorry, no modem was detected! Is it in use by another program?
Did you configure it properly with setserial?
-----------------
I don't know how to use setserial, so I only did a 'quest' :-) :
--------------------------
# setserial -ga /dev/ttySHSF0
/dev/ttySHSF0, Line 0, UART: unknown, Port: 0x0000, IRQ: 0
       Baud_base: 0, close_delay: 50, divisor: 0
       closing_wait: 3000
       Flags: spd_normal
---------------------------

minicom also tell me that the device is unavailable.

Under Windows XP, I got the following informations :
-------------------------

I'm a little frustrated, as I think that I should be very near of a
solution...

Finally, you'll find the ModemData.txt file.

Thanks in advance for any advice,
