Chris, Before attempting to dialout again, try to shut down eth0/eth1 interface. Apr 25 20:28:51 default-desktop kernel: [ 696.086064] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready $ sudo ifconfig eth1 down then try to dialout again. Also change the 23 here: Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 X3 &C1 &D2 +MS=23 to 34. I don't know if that makes any difference, but out of curiosity where did you get the 23? When attempting to dialout, can you connect a phone to the modem and check that you can hear dialtone? This because you have several NO DIALTONE messages.
