Shannon, Ahmed's instructions are correct, if you are alternately online by ethernet/wireless. However if not already online, if will be easiest to first get from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/Ubuntu/ the slamr-2.6.27-??-generic.tar.gz that matches the kernel 2.6.27-??-generic already installed on your System, That will enable you to get on line under the 2.6.27-??-generic kernel and run: $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dkms sl-modem-source per Ahmed's instructions. For service under the 2.6.28-11-generic kernel, you will additionally have to install packages from http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/linux-headers-2.6.28-11-generic/ (unless they are already on your system) to enable compiling under 2.6.28-11-generic. That done, when you reboot into 2.6.28-11-generic, the dkms system will compile and install the slamr driver.
