Adeed, With USB modem 0483:7554 SGS Thomson Microelectronics 56k SoftModem there is sadly no support after 2.6.24 kernels, because lack of a proper License. The code will not compile under Linux. Thus for your CPU=i686, Linux version 2.6.27-11-generic, there is no service. An integrated modem was not detected. Do you have any information whether one may be present? Sometimes Conexant chipset modems on High Definition Audio cards cannot be detected.
