Exactly what to do to get the agere 11C1040 modem to work in mdv 2009

Hello,
Having read about the dkms-agrsm driver for mandriva 2009 i upgraded to  
mandriva 2009 and installed the dkms-agrsm-2.1.80-4mdv2009.0.i586.rpm  
package.
Then i did
modprobe agrmodem
modprobe agrserial

both were successful with no error messages and lsmod shows that the  
modules are indeed loaded.
Now what do i do to actually connect to the internet?
