Marv,

I downloaded and compiled kernel 2.6.27.8, but it does not boot :(
It gives me error message:

mount: error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext4: No such device

I do not know how to overcome it as, the machine I use ext4
filesystem. I booted to a newer Fedora kernel, only to find out later
that it would oops also:

It died with usb_serial problem. I used an external serial/usb modem
to connect to internet with Fedora because it is x86_64. I will await
a newer kernel or a suggestion(s) to ge the ext4 issue with the
compiled kernel to see if it remedies the issue. Otherwise I'll
pleasantly surf with Slax since it gets the job done :)

Regards,

Antonio
