It should be

# modprobe ungrab-winmodem
# mknod -m 660 /dev/slamr0 c 242 0 2>/dev/null && chgrp uucp  /dev/slamr
# modprobe slamr
then
# slmodemd -c USA /dev/slamr0

But somehow this modem does not seem to respond :(

you it was sashak@xxxxxxxxx, but it was sashakh@xxxxxxxxx, sorry for
