The simplest route forward for your11c1:0620	Communication controller: Agere Systems   modem
is to get the kernel update throughhttp://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic
>From http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/11c11040/get the agrsm-ubuntu8.04.1-2.6.24-19-generic.tar.gz
Install the update with:$ sudo dpkg  -i linux*.deband reboot using the new kernel.
Unpack the modem drivers with:$ tar zxf agrsm*.tar.gzMove in$ cd agrsm-ubuntu8.04.1-2.6.24-19-genericBrowse the files.  Run the$ sudo ./setup
It may be necessary to reboot, before the modem is properly detected.
