PLease send to the List, not to me directly.

Gnome PPP is just a front end to wvdial, which you should use instead.  Try
$  sudo wvdialconf  /etc/wvdial.conf
If the modem is found, Edit with
$ sudo  gedit  /etc/wvdial.conf
putting in your personal info , while deleting the ;  <  > symbols
The try to dialout with:
$ sudo wvdial

If the modem was not detected, run
$ sudo hcfconfig --help
which among options is running a diagnostic. Sometime like
$ sudo hcfconfig  --dumpdiag
which write to the /tmp/ folder

Send this output to: "Support (Jonathan)" <support@xxxxxxxxxxxx>,
