Here is what I got trying Carrier Check

Jacques Goldberg wrote:
Eric,

I am not sure if the variables defined in wvdial.conf are case sensitive.
Would you please mind changing Carrier check to Carrier Check?

Yes Eric, now I understand.
Can you please make a copy of your wvdial.rc, erase the password in the coopy, and send me the copy (that is, your wvdial.rc without the value of the password) ?
Thanks - Jacques

Eric wrote:
yes the line
Carrier Check = No
was in the file wvdial.rc
that I used in my larst report with the command
$ sudo wvdial --config wvdial.rc
I have not run the sudo wvdialconf command recently. that is not in the larst month or more.

hope this answers your question
Eric

Jacques Goldberg wrote:
Eric,
Your messages are not sufficiently explicit to be understandable.
You did not answer yes or no to the key question:
Had you already run sudo wvdialconf before launching wvdial in your last report? Because of almost success in the present new report, I must assume that the answer was No.

Therefore I must assume that you did run it and have entered your ISP phone number, username, and password.

So now I have a question.
Please answer by YES/NO : when you started wvdial in the report which you attached to the mail which I am answering now, was there a line
Carrier Check = No (or 0 , same thing) ?
If not, please add such a line to your file wvdial.rc
Then try again to start wvdial not forgetting to first start slmodemd if not already running.

Eric, please take the time to write slowly what you did with all details: we cannot guess them !

Have a nice day.
Jacques

This better , I am now at home so i can't use works lan to connect to internet so i have to boot backwards and forwards between linux & vista

Jacques Goldberg wrote:
Eric,
Before doing that to start wvdial, have you done
sudo /etc/wvdial.conf
It looks like you have not done it.
