Have you got a line
Carrier Check = no
in your wvdial.conf?

Hi,

I'm new on this list.

I'm running under Debian Sid on my laptop. This is an "old" laptop (4 years) but still working. My modem has worked well last year with sl-modem-daemon and the snd-intel8x0m. I'm using wvdial to connect.

Now it doesn't work anymore. I have tested my wvdial configuration. I think it's ok. I have tested 2 accounts with 2 different FAI with different phone number. And it doesn't work : when I launch wvdial I get this "NO CARRIER". So I have stopped sl-modem-daemon and restart it. Nothing else. So I have stopped sl-modem-daemon and launched it under root with :
slmodemd --country FRANCE -a --debug
and I get that :

I have tested my laptop with scanmodem utility. I attach the modemdata file. I have read the doc and tested to boot with pollirq or pci=routeirq. It doesn't change anything. I have verify that my modem is enabled in BIOS and it's OK.

I compile my kernel myself. Perhaps I have forgotten something important...but I don't see what it could be. Which module or options must be present for a modem connexion ?

Are there others related problems with sl-modem-daemon, snd-intel8x0m and new kernel ?

Just to say that it isn't an "hardware" problem, I'm using it to send you this email under windows.

Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Guillaume
