modem chip 11c11040

Diana,

Note that 11c11040 is not a derivative of a base Si3054chip, as is
true for several other HDA hosted modems. This chip is purely an LSI
(formerly Agere Systems) product.

For Vendor Id: 0x11c11040
on a HDA card, there is only support from one Linux distribution.
Red Flag Linux http://www.redflag-linux.com/eindex.html
for Kernel 2.6.21.0-22 provides a binary package supporting 0x11c11040
 on HDA cards

See success support on http://wiki.opennet.ru/hp6510b
which includes useful URL
or search Google with Agere-driver-1.0-10dd.i386.rpm

This package provides agrmodem and agrserial drivers only matched with
the Kernel 2.6.21.0-22

I am in the process of testing whether this Kernel 2.6.21.0-22 +
Agere-driver-1.0-10dd.i386.rpm will function on an otherwise Ubuntu
installation.

Will report further presently. I do not myself have this modem.
