Aaron You could setup the internal modem by following: ========== >From http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php download hsfmodem_VersionSpec_k2.6.22_14_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip with 2.6.22_14_generic equivalent to 2.6.22-14-generic, your kernel version. Under Linux unpack with: $ unzip hsfmodem*.zip Then install with: $ sudo dpkg -i hsfmodem*.deb Subsequently, the modem should be found with $ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf Edit in your personal information with: $ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf and try dialing out with: $ sudo wvdial. See Testing.txt for details. =========== RE: I tried to browse and download emails - failure. This is most likely a Domain Name Service (DNS) failure 1st make sure the ethernet Channel is down before dialing out, or the inapproriate ethernet DNS will dominate: $ ifconfig $ sudo ifconfig eth0 down if necessary. Recheck with $ ifconfig If this does not suffice, with add a line $ sudo gedit /etc/ppp/options add a line: usepeerdns After a dialout do: $ cat /etc/resolv.conf which should have the DNS address auto copied into it: 212.96.1.70 212.96.16.61 At a minimum, if you copy them in with $ sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf you should be able to Browse/doEmail afterward The format is like: ----------------- search YourDomain nameserver1 212.96.1.70 nameserver1 212.96.16.61 Most broadly, read Jacques PostInstall Howto at http://linmodems.technion.ac.il MarvS Read Conexant.txt On Sat, Mar 1, 2008 at 5:34 PM, Aaron Ulrich <aarondulrich@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hello, > I'm not old with Linux.
