At http://packages.ubuntu.com/ search for libc6-dev. This will lead you to
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsty/libdevel/libc6-dev
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsty/devel/linux-libc-dev
After downloading the two packages, install with:
$ sudo dpkg -i  li*.deb
This will complete the linux-header support needed for

   Class 0780: 11c1:044e Communication controller: Agere Systems LT WinModem

 The modem has a Lucent/Agere/LSI Mars or Apollo DSP (digital signal
processing) chipset.
Support packages for 2.6.n kernels are at:
 http://phep2.technion.ac.il/linmodems/packages/ltmodem/kernel-2.6/martian/
, with current update martian-full-20071011.tar.gz

 See AgereDSP.txt for Details.

 Write back as you need more help.
