This predicts that your driver is the snd-hda-intel audio+modem driver.
and the setup command to be used is:

$ su root
$ slmodemd -c BRAZIL --alsa hw:0,6

If your installed slmodemd does not work, get from
http://phep2.technion.ac.il/linmodems/packages/smartlink/
the SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz
