Alessandro, Please send to the List not direct to me. Your local Italian users can likely best help. $ sudo hsfconfig --help will output your options. Your gnome-ppp configuration file is using ATX3 as its first command You need reset, ATZ rather than ATX3 (dial without dialtone detection) MarvS ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Alessandro <aricci@xxxxxxx> Date: Dec 30, 2007 8:16 AM Subject: Re: Linmodem help To: Marvin Stodolsky <marvin.stodolsky@xxxxxxxxx> Hello Marvin and thank you for your help. I followed your instruction. Now the modem is recognized for sure. When I try dialling out everything is working, the number is dialled and the carrier is there. Anyway looks like I can't complete the procedure and in the end I can't get the connection. I enclose 2 txt files that are the output of wvdial from terminal and the log of GnomePPP, maybe you can help me and suggest what to check. I noticed that the modem setup itself by default with region set to USA. May this affect the modem functionality (I'm in Italy)? I read that the region could be set using "hsfconfig --region" but I have no idea on how to get to that point. The region code is mentioned in the instruction files (0059 fo Italy) but I can't find a way to set it. Thanks again for your help and happy new year.
