So you need the slamr driver. However, the latter part is not correct
and compilation is not necessary. Grab the tarball containing
precompiled modules for your kernel from here :

http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/Ubuntu/

extract it and read instructions therein. The Smartlink.txt file
generated by ScanModem might also help you, but feel free to write back
if you have problems.
