ok i have now installed mandriva 2008 gome, i was hoping it would come
with wvdial but no luck there. however it does have pppd, but it seems
there are other problems before i even try to connect. To get my sound
to work in mandriva i am using acpi_osi=!Linux (added this to the
"kernel" line in my /boot/grub/menu.lst). When i install your driver i
get a error that says volume control stopped and after the install is
done i have no sound and according to my system my sound card is gone.
after uninstalling the driver and rebooting everything (sound) is back
to normal.

Just to recap my situation:

I have a intel HDA (ICH7)
modem is a conexant (vience)
I have the modem working well under gusty with a linuxant paid driver.

It has been awhile since i installed this in gusty but if i remember
right i got the same error under gusty. I have never had sound in
gusty and only do if i boot acpi=off (i dont do this). I know my sound
issue in gusty is a bug that has not been fixed yet.

if it makes any difference i am now in ukraine.

thanks for the help and time :)
