It is clearly a line quality problem, not a driver problem.1) It is better not to use  Stupid Mode = yesas this limits beneficial negotiations with the IPPlease see Jacques  Postinstall Howto at  http://linmodems.technion.ac.ilfor other options which may stabilize the contact.
