Problem with vgetty and a INTEL 536EP chipset PCI modem

Hi,

I would really appreciate any help with setting up vgetty with an no-name PCI modem based on the INTEL 536EP chipset. I have managed through all the first steps of installing and setting up the modem drivers for an Ubuntu 7.04 kernel 2.6 OS thanks to an abundance of great advice on this and other lists.

Everything works (playing messages through the modem, calling out, etc), but I run into problems when attempting to get vgetty (I have tried all versions 1.30, 1.31, 1.35, 1.36) to pick up a call. The vgetty logs look like this:

My mgetty.conf has the following initialization of the modem:

# Intel 536EP Chipset
#
port 536ep0
post-init-chat "" ATS0=0Q0&D3&C1 OK

I have tried setting the modem speed to 0 (auto), 38400, 56k, 115200, and my voice.conf file contains:

# Intel 536EP Chipset

#

port 536ep0
force_detect MT_2834

It looks as if vgetty is unable to read characters from the modem, but the "wfr: timeout waiting for RING" confuses me a little.

Has anyone experienced this type of error before, please?

Thanks!
Hans
