First, sorry about the big file....i just thought i was having
problems i read that is the file i should send...very sorry.

The package i downloaded from linuxant was the
"hsfmodem_7.68.00.04full_k2.6.22_14_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb" pakage,
here are the step-by-steps of what i did.

1.downloaded the package with vista to my desktop in windows.
2.restarted machine and booted ubuntu 7.10
3. opened my windows desktop folder from ubuntu.
4. copied the hsfmodem package to my unbuntu desktop.
5. double clicked the .deb file.
6. when prompted i clicked "install package"
7. ran command "sudo hsfconfig" and gave my email and use license code"FREE".
8. rebooted my machine into ubuntu again.
9. created a new network place and put in the dial number, user name,
password and the new location of the modem (/dev/ttySHSF0). i also
activated the connection by clicking the box on the dail up part of
the network tool thing.

Im not sure if it matters or not but in the unbuntu forum i read about
the gnom-ppp, i have tried to connect with this program and it says
/dev/ttySHSF0 is busy.

also in my ubuntu after i rebooted it the modem showed up in my
"restricted drivers" and there are a few conexant devices listed in my
device manager.

here is the output i got when i did "sudo hsfconfig
--info.txt"....hope i did it correct.

Thanks again for your help and sorry im so green at this.... ;)

home@home-laptop:~$ sudo hsfconfig --info
