Re: Modem Dial Up

Jack,

Please send to the List not to me directly, for faster service

First uninstall the hsfmodem package following its directions.
$ sudo  hsfconfig --help
or similar will report the uninstall command.
Its drivers are competing for resources.
Than reboot.

If sl-modem-daemon properly runs
$ ls -l /dev/ttySL0
should report a link
    /dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N  , N some number.

$ lsmod  | grep ungrab
and
$ lsmod | grep slam
should report ungrab-winmodem and slamr drivers loaded
indicating that the modem has been setup properly.

If OK
$ sudo wvdial  /etc/wvdial.conf
will find the modem.

Read the wvdial.txt to guide an edit:
$ sudo gedit  /etc/wvdial.conf

Save and dialout with:
$ sudo wvdial
