AE >From archival information, the modem Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW Primary PCI_id 8086:266d Subsystem PCI_id 1179:0001 is in principle supported through: ==== Download from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/ the package SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz having a compiled slmodemd. Unpack under Linux with: $ tar zxf SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz and read instructions therein. But briefly, the modem is setup with command: sudo slmodemd -c IRAN --alsa modem:1 reporting dynamic creation of ports: /dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N , with N some number Read Smartlink.txt ==== However the controlling interrupt 19 has a resource conflict with: > Modem interrupt assignment and sharing: > 19: 3 IO-APIC-fasteoi ohci1394 with a consequence that upon bootup, the modem is disabled. [ 15.945220] ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:1e.3 disabled the ohci1394 is one of the USB drivers, which is not essential for operations. The first remedy to test is to do an edit with: $ sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and add a line: ohci1394 Then reboot, and rerun scanModem with root permission: $ sudo ./scanModem Hopefully, it will now output more modem diagnostics. If not, the options listed in Bootup.txt will have to be tested, until ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:1e.3 disabled is eliminated.
