 Read Conexant.txt, From
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hcf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php
download the hcfpcimodem_1.13full_k2.6.20_16_386_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip
Under Linux unpack with
$ unzip hcf*.zip
Install with
$ dpkg -i hcf*.deb

Afterwards the modem should be detected by:
$ sudo wvdialconf  /etc/wvdial.conf
With
$ sudo gedit   /etc/wvdial.conf
remove the ; and on those lines replace the <xxxx> placeholders
with your dialout info.

Then try a dialout with
$ sudo wvdial
