Re: No carrier, Brazil Ubuntu 7.04 kernel 2.6.20-16-generic

After a while, here's the answer =)

I used that options, to no avail... Here's what I've
also tried to do:

- Reload the modem module:
# modprobe -r snd-intel8x0m
# modprobe snd-intel8x0m

- Stop the SLMODEMD service and start it manually:
# slmodemd -c BRAZIL --alsa modem:1
SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.9e-pre1 Mar 20 2007
14:45:09
symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/0' created.
modem `modem:1' created. TTY is `/dev/pts/0'
Use `/dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for
termination.

- Test with wvdial (after about a minute, it
disconnects):
# wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.56
--> Cannot get information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 X3 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 X3 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATM1L3DT38376600
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATM1L3DT38376600
CONNECT 50667
--> Carrier detected. Waiting for prompt.
~[7f]}#@!}!}!} }8}"}&} }*} }
}#}$@#}%}&;dy/}'}"}(}"A[7f]~
--> PPP negotiation detected.
--> Starting pppd at Tue Jul 24 18:00:41 2007
--> Pid of pppd: 6635
--> Using interface ppp0

--> The PPP daemon has died: A modem hung up the phone
(exit code = 16)
--> man pppd explains pppd error codes in more detail.
--> Try again and look into /var/log/messages and the
wvdial and pppd man pages for more information.

Here's the output from /var/log/messages (the first 2
lines are related to my modem; according to the
scanModem results, that seems bad...):
