Marco,
Under Windows as you did, do further ATI's, possibly up to ten,
show the word LTMODEM ?
This would definitely NOT suggest that the Linux ltmodem driver is what
you need: it is absolutely NOT.
But the modem manufacturers have added to the native LTMODEM Windows
driver the required support for Lucent/Agere non-ltmodem chipsets.
All this is intended to make the work of the PC integrators easier: they
do not need to think. If Agere, then under Windows LTMODEM for all.

Hi Antonio,
I performed the Windows Device Manager test
the result was:
...
ATI3 - TOSHIBA Software Modem Version 2.1.68
ATI4 - Built on 03/17/2006 14:36:36
ATI5 - 2.1.68, HDA MB, HDA, 19
I have been using this driver founded at toshiba website
I don't know if it's the correct one, but works...

I also performed the precompiled SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz procedings
but does not work :-(

With these informations,
do you presume what could be my modem driver at linux (ubuntu 7.04)?
thanks
Marco,
This is an either/or but not both category. ScanModem reports that you do
A) If you have Windows, run some tests:
If your modem is mounted on an ISA card, scanModem could not access it.
If an alternative boot into Microsoft windows can be done, do mouse
clicks on:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Classical View (for Window XP) > System
Hardware > Device Manager > Modems > Click on the + > Modem. Double click to
expand the graphic. Manufacturer information may be displayed. For example, CXT
stands for Conexant. Click the Diagnostics Tab. Record any hardware ID or vendor
and device information.
Next do the Query Modem and record the ATI specifications displayed such as:
ATI3 - Agere SoftModem Version 2.1.22
ATI5 - 2.1.22, AMR Intel MB, AC97 ID:SIL REV:0x27
Try to identify the modem setup file, with name perhaps MODEM.INF.
If may contain chipset Vendor informaton.
Send this in to discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx, if you have windows to help
diagnoze your modem. IF you do not have windows do the following
B) Support type needed or chipset:
ScanModem says SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz but you should get
SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz
Support can likely be achieved through two mutually exclusive alternatives:
1) An ALSA modem driver plus slmodemd. Read Smartlink.txt for details, and
to test get the package SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz from:
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/
2) The hsfmodem software for Conexant chipset modems: Read Conexant.txt
An ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) modem driver: snd-intel8x0m
provides Low Level support enabling contact with the modem hardware.
For all BUT Conexant chip soft modems (using hsfmodem software)
complementary High Level support is through a Smartlink utility: slmodemd
Download from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/
the package SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz having a compiled slmodemd. Unpack under Lin
ux with:
$ tar zxf SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz
and read instructions therein. But briefly, the modem is setup with command:
slmodemd -c YOUR_COUNTRY --alsa hw:0,1
reporting dynamic creation of ports:
/dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N , with N some number
Read Smartlink.txt and Modem/YourSystem.txt for follow through guidance.
If you do not have windows, try the SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz
If the precompiled SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gz does not work, then you read
Conexant.txt and check out the linuxant drivers page for the one that
Conexant.txt refers to hsf/hcf modem.
Regards,
Antonio
Hope this helps,
Antonio

Marco,
Is what you sent the text shown on the screen while running scanModem,
or the file ModemData.txt created by scanModem in directory Modem?
Jacques,
I sent the ../Modem/ModemData.txt content created after a sudo scanModem.
Do I have to send anything else?
thanks
We NEED that file, the console log is not sufficient.
If this is the real file ModemData.txt, have you executed it as root,
that is sudo scanModem ?
