Following your suggestion I've installed succesfully the linuxant driver, however when I use Gnome-PPP the modem connects but does not authenticate correctly, so the connection is cut off. Following is the log, the first log is without sudo , so there are some messages about PAP and CHAP, and the second log is with sudo (in Ubuntu there is no root acess, that's ok with me, but I don't know if I need to access Gnome-PPP (or wvdial, for that matter) with sudo).

I think we are almost getting there thanks to your help, by the way my name is Rodrigo from Brazil, and I'm trying to connect through Yahoo! free access.
Thanks again.

CXT is a generic for all CXTnumbers, with Linuxant hsfmodem software support.

 Lacking a dsp (digital signal processing) chip, the modem is a software
intensive or "softmodem" type. Its primary controller manages the traffic
 with the CPU. But the software needed is specified in the Subsystem.

Support type needed or chipset: hsfmodem

 The hsfmodem package serves a great variety of Conexant chipset modems.
 From  http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php
 download hsfmodem_VersionSpec_k2.6.15_28_386_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip
with 2.6.15_28_386 equivalent to 2.6.15-28-386, your kernel version.
 Under Linux unpack with:
 $ unzip hsfmodem*.zip
 Then install with:
 $ sudo dpkg -i hsfmodem*.deb
 Subsequently, the modem should be found with
 $ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
 Edit in your personal information with:
 $ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf
 and try dialing out with:
 $ sudo wvdial.
 See Testing.txt  for details.

 Read Conexant.txt

Antonio

Hi there,

need you help folks, I've installed GNOME PPP, in this
program's setup the modem is detected as
Device:/dev/ttySL0 however, when I dial, the log
shows:

--> Ignoring malformed input line: ";Do NOT edit this
file by hand!"
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.55
--> Cannot get information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATM1L3DT40040221
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATM1L3DT40040221
NO CARRIER
ERROR
--> No Carrier!  Trying again.
--> Maximum Attempts Exceeded..Aborting!!
--> Disconnecting at Wed Jun 20 10:57:23 2007

...even if I check "ignore carrier".

So I've installed and run scanModem but I don't know
what to do next. I'm attaching the ModemData.txt as
suggested.

Thank you very much!
