This is one of the reasons why I wrote earlier that the work involved might be much more than the fee to be paid to Linuxant. I am usually pragmatic so I paid (then, 15$) for a license instead of spending money on an alternate solution.

On the other hand, making this free driver work would be a challenge, an interesting job by itself, and a service to the community.
And if nobody never tries it will really never work.
So, if you have free time, why not at least try it?
