The URL http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/base/linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic
works fine and browsing down almost the end of the page leads to
the x86 and x86-64 versions of linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic
Clicking the right version starts the download problem.
If this still does not work for you, tell EXACTLY WHICH COMPLETE URL
does not work.

Thx

download the linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic
package
and install with:
$ sudo dpkg -i linux*.deb
THis is necessary because there was a compile
failure under 2.6.17-10-386
while for the 2.6.17-10-generic kernel,
there is at
http://phep2.technion.ac.il/linmodems/packages/smartlink/Ubuntu/
a driver package
slamr-2.6.17-10-generic.tar.gz
Under Linux it can be installed with:
$ tar zxf slamr-2.6.17-10-generic.tar.gz
$ cd slamr-2.6.17-10-generic
Look around
$ ls
Install with:
$ sudo ./setup
and follow the directions.

Read Smartlink.txt for your modem
Class 0703: 2000:2800 Modem: Smart Link
Ltd.
Unknown device 2800
Primary PCI_id 2000:2800
Support type needed or chipset:
slamr
The modem is supported by the Smartlink
slamr
plus the slmodemd helper utility. Read the
Smartlink.txt and Modem/YourSystem.txt for
follow
through guidance.
I'll send you a driver package separately.

Hi,
I'm completely new to Linux. I have a

But
