get the slamr-2.6.17-10-generic.tar.gz
Under Linux unpack
$ tar zxf slamr*.tar.gz
$ cd slamr-2.6.17-10-generic
Browse the files therein and run
$ sudo ./setup
Follow the output instructions.
Afterwards also specify INDIA as the country with:
$ sudo gedit /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon
Then reboot, during which the modem should be setup by the scripts in
/etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon . Try a dialout with:
$ sudo wvdial
MarvS
scanModem maintainer
