Martino For your Conexant chipset modem under Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS Linux version 2.6.15-28-386. You should consider upgrading to Linux Breezy or the new Feisty release. As Linuxant is providing drivers competent for HDA audo+modem cards for these releases. Otherwise you will have to compile your own driver set following the instructions below. Your system is setup for compiling, so likely it is easier to try compiling your own hsf* drivers first. Formal support for Conexant chipset modems are available ONLY through http://www.linuxant.com/drivers. Read Conexant.txt for details. and Modem/YourSystem.txt for follow through guidance. Driver speed is limited to 14,400 until a key is purchased. There is NO freeware alternative. There are two support package types: hsfmodem and hcflinmodem. http://www.lorenzobettini.it/linux/LinuxSonyVaioVGN-S5VP_B reports a problem and solution in stalling a key, after testing of the free low speed download. But for High Definition Audio cards hosting Conexant softmodems, and kernels before 2.6.16, a patched version must be used and is available at http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/hsfhda/ . Under Linux do: $ tar zxf hsf*.tar.gz $ cd hsfmodem-7.47.00.03full Look around: $ ls Install the package with: $ sudo make install $ sudo hsfconfig should complete the setup. See wvdial.txt for follow through information. Read Conexant.txt MarvS scanModem maintainer On 4/1/07, Martino Luggazzi <hochwart@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
