I'm using the same script with 2.6.20 as I do with kernel 2.6.17,
where it works ok.  It's a bit different for the slusb module because
it is loaded manually after the usb is plugged in.

Are you having this same problem with the slamr in kernel 2.6.20?

Nope.  the modem worked flawlessly for two and a half hours.  Only tested it yesterday, but it seemed to work without a problem.

Have you run it successfully for several hours?

For two or more only.  No problems as of yet.

Yes, it must be different for the slusb, because it fails sooner than
2 hours use.
