After you have run the hsfmodem uninstall, shutdown and detach any non-essential USB devices. Then boot into Linux and then rerun scanModem If may write out the needed slmodemd command line. MarvS scanModem maintainer Be sure to run the UNINSTALL for the hsfmodem package you have installed. Its drivers are known to interfere with slmodemd sevices.
