It is useless to try drivers unless you know exactly which one is THE
one which you need.
Therefore, begin by removing all the drivers which you have tried to
install.

At this time there is no ready to go Debian installer matching your
kernel.
I believe but I am not sure that the file martian-full-20061203.tar.gz
from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/kernel-2.6/martian/
is what you need.
Download it, unpack with tar zxf martian-full-20061203.tar.gz
Go down into folder martian with cd martian
Read the instructions.
Where they say that you must be root or use su , with your Ubuntu system
you must give sudo commands.
