Cynbad,
Functionality for CALLER ID has generally not been implemented inLinux modem drivers. If would require changes in the code sectionthat is pre-compiled at the chipset maker/designer. They make noprofit from Linux code, and we are lucky to have bare dialoutfunctionality.
In the case of your AC'97 compatibility AgereSystems softmodem chip,it is ALSA modem drivers + slmodemd of SmartLink Inc. originproviding the software support. Improvements in the pre-compiledcomponent of slmodemd cannot be expected, because the distributionrights have been purchased by Conexant Inc.
The diagnostics on your System look fine for primary dialout access.
