ubuntu 6.10 on my laptop

hi new to linux and trying to get the modem working under ubuntu. having trouble making sense of the modemdata file, trying to find the chipset to find the driver.

a bootup process,  but then enabled later. If modem drivers load
but the  modem is not responsive, read Bootup.txt about possible fixes.
